Ordovician age Brittle-stars from the Atlas Mountains
These are all Genuine Ophuroidea sp. Brittlestars from the Atlas Mountains. They are found in the Ordovician rocks of Mount Boutshafrin, Alnifi, Morocco. They belong to the Katoua Formation. Age 470 Million Years. The sizes are given below. All the piece have had some repair to the matrix. Some small restoration is normal on these pieces.
Species: Sinosura kelheimense These Jurassic Age Brittle-Star fossils come from the World Famous Lagerstate of Solnhofen, Germany. (Kimmeridgian stage, 150 Million years old). Found in the Solnhofen limestone, Plattenkalk Formation, Malm Zeta 3, Heinheim, Eichstatt. All are as found from splitting shale layers. What you see is a snapshot of the Jurassic Seas of Germany. Solnhofen's most famous resident fossil is the very early Bird, Archaeopteryx. From this find, many other fossil types have been found there and is now a world famous heritage site.
