Size: 2.5cm, perfect little baby size trilobite on prepared matrix rock.
Collector Grade trilobite fossil on original matrix from from the mid Ordovician (470 mya). They were found near the Volhov River, Saint Petersburg area, Russia. Matrix is fully prepared. For the age of these fossils it's always best to expect at least some repair to the matrix or fossil, it's inevitable. Eyes, often are repaired and that is totally normal, they have been around for nearly 500 Million years. We don't think you will ever find a sample that has not had some minor repair. because of the the nature of extraction from the bedrock, lots of hammering and air tools are used to bring out the rough specimen from the rocks; they are then brought back to a warm workshop to be painstakingly prepared with air chisels, air abrasives and dental hand tools. 3% restoration is normal for these.
