Cut and polished Pliosaurus bone section from Oxfordshire

Type: Small and medium size sections of Pliosaurus bone sections from Jurassic Kimmeridgian Clay, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom.
We also have some Sauropod bone from the same locations -you can find these on the Dinosaur bone page. It is not unusual for land animals and marine deposits to be found together in places. Many are reworked marine deposits that have eroded into slightly newer ones. The difference between the marine reptile and land based dinosaurs can be seen in the bone structure. Dinosaur bone seems to have a much coarser bone structure most probably to do with the influence of oxygen on bone growth esp in Sauropods that were mostly Huge.
