Because no two are alike, there is a lot of choice here so you are bound to see exactly what you want. These nautilus fossils are from Mahajanga Province, Madagascar. They date from the middle Cretaceous times (from the Albian Age). The Moroccan nautilus are from the Oolite Jurassic. The striped effect is in fact the sutures of the gas chambers that help this creature to remain buoyant and swim. Nautiloids can still be found today in our exotic oceans, and are the nearest relatives to the Ammonites, which became extinct at the end of the Cretaceous.
