Enchodus Vertebrae fossils - Xiphactinus like fishes
These are the back vertebrae fossils from Enchodus libicus sp. They are rugged, solid and very substantial. A very large fish that was voracious and mean.
Xiphactinus audax is a similar fish for comparison. The vertebrae are from full size fishes. You can often find many small sized ones on matrix, but these have been dug out of the matrix rock to expose them as fully as possible. Small repairs are normal from this site, but no major restoration is made to these.
