Clumps of hair are found within blocks of permafrost, ice and snow. When the thaw season comes for just a few weeks every year this is when the hair and other remains are discovered. The Hair belongs to Mammuthus primigenius (Woolly Mammoth). Found at Tamiyr, Siberia, Russia and dated to anything from 10,000 yrs to 1.8 Million years old (Pleistocene times). In with the hair you will often find pieces of grass, moss and soil all from the time when the mammoth was living its life.
Box sizes are 8.0cm x 5.5cm.
