South African Tiger Iron/Stromatolites
Precambrian age Tiger Iron stromatolites from South Africa. Banded layers of Hematite and Jasper. The Hematite has a beautiful metallic appearance, and a mirror finished surface.
It is speculated that these banded Iron hematite formations are the result of mineral replacement by colonial stromatolites. Other Geologists feel they are non organic and solely the result of mineralization.
These are highly polished top grade specimens. They look amazing in real life far better than any picture can show!
