Woolly Mammoth Fossils
Above Image by Mauricio Anton. Entire category devoted to the beautiful Mammal that once walked the Earth, and its ever popular relatives too, also no longer with us. Such a shame, as these creatures were so peaceful and gentle (well, all except during the mating season - but then they are not unlike humans really as we are all animals!) Territorial, proud animals, and good parents, we might find some good qualities in the Elephants relatives that would make us humans more civilised. This category may include MASTODON fossils from time to time. Keep watch for new items.
Ice Age mammal remains are quite common to find in the North Sea, but some of them extremely Rare, such as Hippo and Big Cat (Feline) material. As such, these creatures were also part of the same environment as the Mammoths and no doubt the problems that caused the extinction processes had a drastic effect on many species at that time. Mammoth Tusk Fossils Fossilized Tusk bark sections from a Mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius) Its dated to around 30,000 years old (Devensian stage). Found by fishermen dredging the area of the North Sea between Lowestoft, UK to the Brownbank, Holland. There is often splits and cracks in this material, but they are very stable pieces.
