BRITISH SHARK TOOTH FOSSILS Various species and locations, British Shark Teeth fossils are always pretty, colorful and in some species, very rare. Some locations are now not accessable, such as Lee-on-Solent in Hampshire. All the teeth in this section usually come boxed and labelled. The teeth are kept in place with a small amount of white-tac which is easy to remove for closer examination. |

PALEOCARCHARODON A distant cousin to the great white shark, but not directly related, these teeth come from creatures often called white pygmy sharks. They resemble the great white with the addtion of side cusps, but did not leave any known living shark relatives today. They are an end line shark, the shark evolving to its natural limit before finally becoming extinct. Survival of the fittest and newer stronger species probably helped see this shark off into extinction. No repairs unless otherwise noted. All found at the Khourgba plateau phosphate mines, Morocco. Teeth are Eocene in age (60 Million). Beautiful teeth. |

OTODUS OBLIQUUS - Mackeral Sharks Here is the popular Otodus obliquus sp of Shark, an ancient extinct mackeral shark. Otodus is dated to around 50 Million years (Eocene) and normally are collected from the Khourigban Phosphate mines of Morocco. Matrix fossils are those which are in their original rock as found, in this case Phosphate rich sandstones. They are not the composite (made up matrix of sand and glue) ones you may see on Auction sites - they are perfectly fine, but if you want the real thing, the ones below are the ones to go for. The teeth are often repaired due to extraction process. Tips are not all perfect, hence the bargain pricing but they are still well over average size teeth, some of the biggest you are likely to find.
Also for offer are Ancient Otodus obliquus shark Vertebrae. Uncommon fossils, because sharks are mostly cartilaginous and this does not always preserve well. All come From the Phosphate beds at Benguerir, Marrakech, Morocco, North Africa. They are very old so please expect so wear and tear - they was in the sharks' body wasn't they!

CARCHAROCLES MEGALODON - Commercial Grade Teeth Great selection of Carcharocles megalodon Shark teeth and some other species thrown in for good measure. The Megaldon teeth come from the biggest known shark to have ever lived. Some people argue these creatures still exist too! These teeth come from the fossil beds of North/South Carolina, 12-15 Million years old so are Miocene age. All the teeth are in commercial grade condition. The teeth all have wear and tear from feeding and nicks caused by chomping on juicy bones and later on from river flow during and after fossilization. Some people classify Megalodon as belonging to Carcharocles, others say Carcharodon. Until this classification is cleared up, you may commonly see the two names become interchangeable for Megalodon. 1/2, 3/4 and near completes available. Teeth are measured from the side of the root to the tip. Click pictures for a larger view. |

CARCHAROCLES MEGALODON - Baby Size Megalodon Teeth Little baby size Carcharocles megalodon Shark teeth and some other species thrown in for good measure. The Megaldon teeth come from the biggest known shark to have ever lived. Some people argue these creatures still exist too! These teeth come from the fossil beds of North/South Carolina, 12-15 Million years old so are Miocene age. Some people classify Megalodon as belonging to Carcharocles, others say Carcharodon. Until this classification is cleared up, you may commonly see the two names become interchangeable for Megalodon. All the teeth are complete, or near complete and have general wear and tear - These are very hard to find due to their size and are actually rarer than the larger ones, which are easy to spot whilst diving or dredging, the little ones tend to fall through and get left behind. All in all they are cute looking and would look great next to a big boy (or girl!) tooth on display. They come boxed and labelled. Teeth are measured from the side of the root to the tip. Click pictures for a larger view. |
