PTEROSAUR TEETH
Siroccopteryx moroccensis

The ancient Flying reptile whose fossils are on this page, belong to the species of Pterosaurid called Siroccopteryx moroccensis, which at present is the only know species to be accounted for in the Moroccan sahara sediments. So not surprising, as they are very old please expect some wear and tear and a bit of enamel loss. Found: South of Taouz, Moroccan Sahara. 96 Million Years old, Cretaceous age. Only Recently classified in 1999, this pterosaur had an estimated wing span of some 20 feet. Anhanguerid type. These teeth are known to be primarily used for catching fishes and smaller creatures/insects. Siroccopteryx is the only named species so far to come out of Morocco. |
